A plug valve is shaped like a cylinder or cone which can be rotated inside the valve body to control the flow of fluids. Plug valves consists one or more hollow passageways often placed horizontally to enable ease of flow through the valve when open. The most common type of plug valve is the 2 port model having an open and closed position. The two ports are usually located on opposite sides of the valve with one passageway leading from inbound to outbound and the stem and handle located on the top. A plug valve also uses a quarter turn valve, which is useful where quick and frequent operation is essential. The valve ends can be flanged, hub type, or butt weld.

Because of their sturdy design and the capability to provide tight shutoff even if the sewage network has high concentration of solid waste material, Plug Valves are widely used in sewage water systems. Eccentric plug valves are more widely used over other valves as they can operate for many years even in the solution that has high solid waste content. One of the important features of these valves is robust body seat which offers a corrosion resistant seating service which can be used in the waste water lines for years of service in harsh conditions. Several valves are either rubber encapsulated or have a rubber facing to ensure bubble tight shut off and high corrosion resistance. Several of the plug valves are designed with stainless steel bearings that give the valves lower torques, however they are tough enough to survive the constant corrosion within the system.

In a wastewater transmission line, plug valves for drainage system provide tight shut off when line needs to be closed. The valves are available as either flanged or mechanical joint end valves. In many installations, the valves are buried in the ground and are used only a few times in a year.

At Dutco Tennant LLC, we always ensure that our products are made to go through rigorous testing such as design testing and leakage testing as per the set standards, and are made through advance materials of construction. Our valves fully meet international quality requirements.
