Distribution of electrical power is the last stage in the conveyance of electricity to all end consumers. The network of distribution carries the electricity from a transmission system and provides it to users.
The substations of distribution connect to transmission systems and it lowers transmission voltage to medium voltage that ranges from 2kV and 35kV by using transformers. The primary distribution lines carry medium voltage power till the distribution transformers are situated near the user's premises.
The medium voltage network plays a vital role in the complete distribution scheme because it is the stage from which electricity consumers start consuming electrical power. The distribution schemes can be a little bit different for some industrial sites as they can have their generation at the medium voltage (MV) level.
