A compression Coupling or fitting is mainly used in electrical and plumbing conduit systems for joining two tubes or thin-walled pipes together. In cases where two pipes that are made of dissimilar materials are required to be joined, the fittings will be made of one or more compatible materials that are appropriate for the connection. Compression fitting which is needed for attaching tubing commonly has ferrules. Compression couplings are also used widely for cold and hot water faucets and toilet stop valves. If you are required to add a line by teeing into an existing line, then there is no problem, you can just prepare your tee either glue socket outlet or female pipe threaded outlet by adding a valve then turn off the water, cut your line and insert the tee, tighten up the ends and turn the water back on. You can use two male adapters along with a threaded valve for quickly adding a shut off whenever required.
