The Holy Haram Expansion Project Makkah, Saudi Arabia is going to cover 500,000 square meters. The project includes multi-level extensions over the northern side of the complex along with new tunnels, new stairways, a gate named after King Abdullah and two minarets, that makes the total number of minarets to eleven. Additionally, the Mataf is also expanded to 20 meters in width.
The project was commenced in awareness that the Holy Mosque could not support the rising numbers of worshippers along with the overseeing of the pilgrims undertaking the annual Hajj. The Holy Haram Expansion Project is intended to provide comfort and ease to all the pilgrims, visitors and worshippers who are there to perform the rituals.
