Potable water check valves allow the flow of fluid in one direction and automatically prevent backflow when fluid in the pipe flows in the opposite direction. These types of valves are one of the few self-automated valves that do not require human input to open and close. They have two ports, one as an inlet for the media and the other one as the output for the media. Since they allow media only in one direction, they are also referred to as ‘one-way valves’ or ‘non-return valves’. The main purpose of a check valve is to prevent backflow in the system.
