The trapezoidal strands and composite core effectively reduce wind-induced vibrations and the fully annealed aluminium strands provide high conductivity. 

The composite core also has a low coefficient of thermal expansion, reducing conductor sag under heavy electrical load. The lower modulus allows the conductor to stretch during extreme events, but it fully returns to its pre-stressed condition after the event, improving self-damping and reducing thermal knee-point for reduced sag under heavy electrical load.
