Sports turf fields require a proper watering system for its healthy maintenance and longevity. Watering the field with a simple pipe fitted hose may suffice residential landscapes such as gardens, lawns or yards but it won’t work for sports turf fields.

It needs suitable irrigation system setup to ensure all the areas of the field are uniformly watered. Now, a pump station is a common application for establishing irrigation for sports turf fields.

However, there are many components that are applied for the pump station’s operation. One of them is valves such as 2 way plastic solenoid valve for sports turf irrigation.

Keep reading till the end to learn about the significance of solenoid valves in sports turf irrigation systems.

Different Type of Valves used in Different Irrigation System

There are a bunch of varied valves used in irrigation systems depending on varied application and requirements. Some of the valves used in irrigation system pump stations are –

Pressure Relief Valves

It is a safety valve used in irrigation systems and other system applications. This one helps in reducing or controlling the high pressure in pipelines and ensures no damage is caused by high pressure transmission.

Based on the system’s requirements, the pressure relief valves are positioned and installed. The valve essentially senses high pressure within the pump station’s pipeline and opens to release the pressure. The opening pressure of valves are typically 15 psi.

Mainline Isolation Valves

This valve is used for turning off the entire irrigation system. Because of its primary purpose, this type of valve is positioned and installed right at the water source or on the mainline.

Mainline isolation valves are utilized when the irrigation system requires any servicing or repairing.

Drain Valves

Drain valves are used when water needs to be vacated from the system. Emptying of water is done typically during winterisation, repairs or servicing.

This valve is generally fitted to the pipeline’s underside.

Remote Control Valves

This one is installed for enabling water to flow via pipeline for activating the sprinkler or sprinklers. With remote control valves, the manual isolation valves also need to be installed right at the valve’s upstream in order to carry out an easy servicing process.

Why Solenoid Valves for Sports Turf Irrigation?

To gain maximum efficiency for sports turf irrigation, the application of solenoid valves are preferred. The 2 way solenoid valve has two ports – one for inlet and the other for outlet, both of them are usually closed.

These valves are used to control on/off of water flow and most importantly regulate the flow of water. High pressure water flow when discharged onto the sports turf fields causes uneven distribution of water. Moreover, the high-pressure impact can also damage the field area.

These valves have electronic controlling operation that makes the water flow regulated ensuring uniform water distribution. The 2 way plastic solenoid valve for sports turf irrigation comes with a built-in steel mesh filter which also does the job of ensuring clean water discharge permanently.

Therefore, promoting efficient watering processes and keeping the fields well-maintained.
