         i.          Air/Vacuum Valves

This type of valve’s main function is to prevent the air from getting collected in the pipeline and ensuring there’s no entrapment within the system. They exhaust the accumulated air from the system into the atmosphere.

          iii.          Combination Air Valves

As the name suggests, a combination air valve performs the functions of both air relief and air/vacuum valve. It is designed for admitting and exhausting air as per the requirement of the situation.

Different Type of Air Valves Based on Body Constructions

In every air valve there’s an opening which is termed as orifice. Depending on the orifices and overall body construction of the valves, there are two types of valves available. They are –

           i.          Single Orifice Valves

Single orifice air valves have one inlet and outlet. This type of air valve is ideal for applications for releasing a small amount of collected air out from the piping system.

          ii.          Double Orifice Valves

Even though double orifice valves have one inlet and outlet, this inlet port is large in size and the outlet port is small. The large sized inlet enables large air quantities to get admitted while draining a pipe section. Furthermore, the inlet also allows for exhausting air out during pipe filling operation.

Whereas, during the pipeline’s operation, the small outlet port is responsible for releasing small quantities of collected air.
