Spectrometry is a go-to technique for conducting elemental analysis of materials and objects. While big bulky spectrometers are common in laboratories where scientists throw themselves for research purposes, it is the handheld spectrometers that further empower the professionals in the field of material science.

Today, we are highlighting one of the innovations that have been developed with efficiency and functionality in mind. The S1 TITAN from Bruker is a powerful tool from their range of handheld XRF spectrometers.

At this year’s ArabLab 2024, you can witness the innovation live in our showcase from 24 to 26 September 2024. But before you make your way to our stall in Hall S2-332, Dubai World Trade Centre, here’s a quick guide to show the power of this handheld XRF spectrometer.

S1 TITAN for Portable Elemental Analysis

It is one of the portable analytical instruments from Bruker that has been designed to deliver measurements of light elements at twice the speed. Despite its lightweight and portable characteristics, S1 TITAN is a rugged analyser.

It comes with a 3mm small spot collimator that allows for accuracy in measurement of small components and welds. The new graphene SDD detectors deliver 50 Newton force shields ensuring protection of the detector.

The Perks of Using S1 TITAN

Wide Range of Calibration Options:

The S1 TITAN offers versatile calibration options to accommodate different applications and materials, making it suitable for a wide range of industries, including alloy, gold and precious metals, catalytic converters, soil, mining, restricted materials, metal coatings and even customer specific calibrations.

Latest Graphene Window SDD Detector Technology:

Utilises state-of-the-art graphene window silicon drift detector (SDD) technology, which enhances sensitivity and allows for more efficient X-ray detection. This technology improves the performance of the instrument, particularly in detecting low-energy X-rays. Hence, resulting in better detection of light elements and improved overall accuracy.

Superior Count Rates and Resolution:

Achieves higher count rates and superior resolution. This leads to more precise and reliable measurements. High count rates mean that more data points are collected in a shorter time, increasing throughput and reducing analysis time. It also has enhanced resolution allowing for the clear distinction between elements with closely spaced energy lines. With S1 TITAN experts get accurate identification and quantification of elements.

Faster Than Previous Generations:

The S1 TITAN is faster than its predecessors, making it a more efficient tool for on-site analysis. Speed is critical in situations where time-sensitive decisions are required. For example, quality assurance in manufacturing or real-time environmental assessments.

Lower Detection Limits:

The advanced detector technology and optimised calibration improve the S1 TITAN's sensitivity. Both allow it to detect lower concentrations of elements. This capability is crucial for applications requiring the identification of trace elements.

Easy Analysis of Light Elements:

The S1 TITAN 800 and 500S models can easily analyse light elements like magnesium, aluminium, and silicon without the need for a vacuum or helium atmosphere. This feature simplifies the analysis process, reduces operating costs, and enhances the versatility of the instrument in a wider range of applications.
