Understanding the behaviour of different materials under different stress conditions is the crucial study in material science. The conditions are simulated to depict real-world scenarios that enable diverse industries to ensure quality control, production, product research and development.

Hydraulic fatigue tests are conducted to effortlessly replicate the quasi-static and dynamic forces affecting various points in materials or components. During these tests, the forces on the material or components can be applied in axial, bending, or twisting modes.

The hydraulic fatigue testing system plays a significant role in determining the behaviour of materials. These systems serve as a revolutionary tool that pushes the boundaries of material science.

The LTM is an electrodynamic testing machine based on linear motor technology. It can be used for dynamic fatigue testing, static materials and component testing.

At this year’s ArabLab 2024, we will be showcasing Walter+Bai’s amazing dynamic and fatigue testing solutions that include servo hydraulic systems too. But before you make your way to our stall in Hall S2-332 at Dubai World Trade Centre, how about we give you a quick guide of how these systems are boosting material science.

Let’s get to know, shall we?

What’s Servo Hydraulic Testing System?

These are multicomponent machines that are developed to conduct static and dynamic fatigue tests of materials. The testing systems allow experts in the field of material science the parameters of sample deformation caused due to the impact of a certain direction and force.

These systems utilise hydraulic actuators for the application of repetitive stress on a material sample. This is done to determine the material’s endurance over time. The primary goal of these test conditions is to learn about the fatigue life of a material.

The test results will give the idea of how many cycles the material can withstand before its failure.

Why Does It Matter?

If you are wondering why hydraulic fatigue testing matters then you must know that in material science, the understanding of fatigue is important. A significant amount of structural failures happen because of fatigue that too without any prior warning.

This type of failure occurs when the material is exposed to repeated loading and unloading cycles. Initially, small cracks are formed which eventually leads to catastrophic failure.

With hydraulic fatigue testing, scientists and engineers are able to stimulate these conditions in a controlled environment. Hence, the systems help in predicting the material’s durability, longevity and weak points.
