Understanding Axial Flow Control Check Valves
Flow control valves are considered to be self-actualizing devices that address both flow and pressure changes in a piping system. The main purpose that it serves is to enable flow in one direction while restricting or halting the opposite direction flow. The axial control valve is used for specialised applications to fulfil the unique needs of systems.
We at Dutco Tennant LLC supply high-end axial flow control valve that are ideal for potable water projects. This valving solution will also be exhibited at the WETEX 2022 starting from 27th September 2022. The three day event will have live demos, insightful interactions and more.
But before you pay a visit to WETEX, how about you learn some basics of axial flow control valves. Keep reading till the end to find out all.
The Proper Use of Axial Flow Control Valves
Where there is a continuous concern for backflow, the axial type check valves are specifically designed for fast-reversing systems. It is categorized as a non-slam check valve due to the fact that it shuts without slamming. This means that there are no excess pressure spikes generated.
Most axial flow check valves come with a single low-mass disc and are spring-loaded. This design arrangement helps in facilitating a rapid, dynamic response for reduction in flow. Due to having a single spring and disc, upon the disc’s opening, the force is balanced resulting in an uniform flow.
Operation Method
When the pressure differential between the upstream and downstream side of the valve goes over the spring’s cracking pressure, the obturator tends to move and enables flow. The valve’s flow area reduces steadily down to the diameter of the seat; this is referred to as the venturi design.
Due to the venturi design, the decreased flow area causes an increase in the kinetic pressure and brings down the static pressure enabling the valve to rapidly open fully. The spring is selected so that the disc is fully opened and stable against its backstop under normal flow conditions.
When there is any noticeable drop in the flow happening, the spring responds early against the force of the reducing flow.
Axial Flow Control Valve Supply
Dutco Tennant LLC supplies an axial flow control valve that is designed to fit in special applications requiring reduced turbulence effects, high flow capacity, the precise regulation from a linear motion closure and prevention of vibrational effects.
In comparison to conventional axial type flow control valves, this one inherits high capacity performance and allows selection of smaller valve size. The higher capacity of this valve type also aids in minimising pressure loss and serves the purpose of offering special regulation features.
