A pressure gauge is a mechanical instrument designed to measure the internal pressure and/or vacuum of a vessel or system. Pressure is typically measured in units of force per unit of surface area. Instruments used to measure and display pressure in an integral unit are called pressure gauges or vacuum gauges.
